world RX calendar approved. Rallycross cars return to Maasmechelen.

16 February / A pre-season test day at Calafat in Spain provided the opportunity for potential RX2e racers to sample the cars. Six drivers took part, five of them experiencing the car for the first time. Clement Picard, Ellis Spiezia, Frank Coll, Kalle Gothesson Sara Kaluzinska and Vasileios Kyriazopoulos drove during the test. There is expected to be another test event during March.

18 February / The first Extreme E events of the year took place at Jeddah where Johan Kristoffersson and Mikaela Ahlin-Kottulinsky won for Rosberg X Racing in the first day of racing while on the second day Fraser McConnell and Laia Sanz grabbed the win for Acciona Sainz XE.

23 February / Patrick O’Donovan will further extend the diversity of his season by racing in the Nitrocross event in Las Vegas. The double British champion has been driving in some rallies this winter and has retained his role as Extreme E’s ‘championship driver’. His Nitrocross outing will be at the wheel of Xite Racing’s FC1X.

24 February / After four years of enforced inactivity rallycross cars returned to the Duivelsbergcircuit at Maasmechelen. Organisers at the venue won permission to recommence racing last year. Dates allocated for the Belgian championship remain provisional as there is a further court action from a nature conservation group. Run just a week before the national series opener at Mettet, the Maasmechelen test day attracted a large number of drivers and a high level of media attention within the region. Championship events are provisionally scheduled for 13-14 July and 6 October.

26 February / Timmy Hansen will drive for DRR/JC in the Las Vegas Nitrocross event this weekend. The 2019 FIA World Rallycross Champion won two Nitro events in 2021. This will be his first event in the series’ electric era.

28 February / The FIA World Motor Sport Council approves the calendar for the FIA World and European Rallycross Championships. The published calendar details six events. Beginning with a standalone European championship event at Essay in France (the first time the track near Alencon has hosted an FIA event since 20110, there are then four World RX events in Europe that also count for the European championships in Sweden, Hungary, Belgium and Portugal. The season is closed by an event in Australia, a new location for the championship.

This weekend / Nitrocross moves to the finale of its 2023-2024 season at Las Vegas. The Belgian Championship begins at Mettet and the Irish series continues with its second weekend of racing action at Mondello Park.
