Vic Elford died on 13 March, he was 86-years-old. Important here because he won the first rallycross event, the Englishman is widely regarded as one of the greatest allrounders ever in motor sport. In a long and illustrious career he made it to F1 via rallies and racing but it was as a sportscar driver that he found greatest success and fame. Formidable on the most challenging of courses, Elford excelled at the Nurburgring and Targa Florio and was one of few drivers ever to truly extract the maximum from the Porsche 917.
