Timmy Hansen takes the challenge of the revitalised FIA European Rallycross Championship in 2013. After the confirmation of his plans, Timmy unveiled his Hansen Motorsport Supercar Citroën DS3.

“I couldn’t be more excited and happy to join the Championship,” Timmy reflected. “After four years competing in single seaters, I’m ready to move up to one of the most interesting series in motor sport with a car and a team that provides everything I need to graduate successfully.” The FIA European Rallycross Championship is reinvigorating one of the most potent forms of motorsport – short form, multi-surface and highly competitive racing in 550 bhp racingcars. With the FIA’s commitment to the series aligned with the depth of experience at IMG, the series promoters, the FIA European Rallycross Championship is undergoing a positive transformation.

Timmy drove a one-off race in Finland at the end of last years European Rallycross Championship. “I understood why my father stayed so many years in the sport. A SuperCar is a tiger, wild, strong and needs to be treated with respect. I think the high level of fidelity I have  naturally learnt in circuit racing will suit the demands of driving in RallycrossRX and getting the best from a SuperCar.” Timmy hansen ended up 5th overall in the Supercar category in the 2012 Finnish European Championship event.

Starting his career in karting, Timmy Hansen started in 2009 racing in the Formula BMW Europe. In his second season inthis serie he beated Carlos Sainz jr. and took the bronze medal in the series. His growing capability attracted the attention of the FIA Institute’s Young Driver Excellence Academy and in 2011, he joined the scheme, working alongside former Formula One driver, Alex Wurz and 2001 World Rally Champion co-driver, Robert Reid.

Timmy Hansen: “I’m glad I have taken this decision to tackle the FIA European Rallycross Championship. The car is great, the series is going from strength to strength and while I do not under-estimate the challenge ahead, my motivation is sky high”.
