For Holte read Holten

Highly rated Norwegian Daniel Holten has found a silver lining inside the cloud that hangs over compatriot Frode Holte’s 2012 season and, with help from sponsors, has struck a deal to race Holte’s Volvo C30 Supercar in the Norwegian and Swedish rounds of the European Rallycross Championship.

Holte won the French round of the championship in the C30 last year and went on to place fourth in the championship. Plans to race in the GRC crumbled after he had shipped the car to America in the winter and it was later returned to Norway without ever having turned a wheel. The cost of the aborted American adventure left Holte without the money to race this year, but opened the possibility of others using the car.

“This is a major investment, costing several hundred-thousand-krone, and I just have to thank the sponsors and all who have worked hard to achieve this,” said Holten, “Part of the deal is that I get to test the car before the Norwegian round of the championship at Lånke. This might be a chance I only get once in a lifetime, and I am willing to seize it now. I must give a big thank you to those who have worked most to achieve this.”

Holten (20) has built a solid reputation in national events in Norway and achieved some decent results in ERC outings. His planned full ERC campaign in 2011 was disrupted when he rolled his Citroën Saxo in a national event. Renting a C2 from Steven Bossard, he achieved his best finish of the year with third place in Portugal. His only other A final start in nine starts brought fifth place in the Czech Republic.
