GRC build up

Test sessions at Charlotte Motor Speedway and PR activities around the first round of the Global Rallycross Championship continue as teams and drivers limber up for Saturday night’s event in North Carolina. Scott-Eklund Racing has claimed to be fastest in a test run at the track, but not on the course that the GRC will use, Andy Scott having his second run since the team sent the team relocated to the US, the first having been carried out close to its base in Florida. “It’s a great feeling to finally get on-track ahead of the first Global Rallycross Championship round. I’m really pleased with the car’s performance during the five test runs today and it’s great to see the fruition of our recent development work. The car gets better and better with every session and although we are yet to experience the full course set-up, we are positive ahead of the big event,” said Scott.

Meanwhile, Travis Pastrana, who will race in both the GRC event and Saturday afternoon’s History 300 NASCAR Nationwide Series race, is hosting a press conference and demonstration of his Dodge Dart Supercar today and Ken Block has used the occasion of his first Rallycross event to launch a ‘bonus edit’ of last year’s Gymkhana Four video (below). “When we set out to do GYM4, the goal was make it visually different from GYM3. So, we incorporated lots of things that really represented the ‘Hollywood’ aspect of the video. This edit though, is way more focused on the driving that I was doing. I also think that this video really does a good job demonstrating the difficulty of some of the obstacles I had to negotiate. While I love the original, I think a lot of the fans who just want to see pure driving are going to be stoked on this. I’m glad DC and Ford Racing came together and put this out,” said Block who has also released new items of Gymkhana Four merchandise.
