Petrakovits awaiting new ERC season
by Eddi Laumanns |
Austrian VW Polo racer Christian Petrakovits is ready for the Channel crossing and the opening round of the ERC at Lydden Hill near Dover. During the winter his Super1600 VW Polo was upgraded to the latest Volkswagen specs and first tests backed up most of the expected improvements. Like in 2011 the responsible men for all engine and suspension matters are engineers of the Technical University of Graz, and after VW Motorsport Austria mastermind Mario Hell has joined Petrakovits’ squad the Austrian feels well prepared for 2012.
“I have good memories of the British ERC event of last year. We made it straight into the A final, where I eventually claimed fifth place overall. The first ERC round is every year an important definition of ones position, but I have the feeling that a place on the Lydden podium is not out of reach. If we can throw all the potential of both, car and driver into the scale-pan it should be possible to eventually climb up the winners rostrum in England,” claims the motivated Petrakovits about a week before his departure for the cradle of Rallycross.
