Färén confirms Super1600

Eric Färén (formerly known as Erik Larsson and the son of Ronny Larsson as well as younger brother to Johan Larsson) has revealed the Citroën C2 in which he will contest the Super1600 section of the European Rallycross Championship. The 22-year-old Swede will drive the RL Sport-owned car under the wing of Kenneth Hansen Motorsport where he joins Supercar racers Timur Timerzyanov and Alexander Hvaal.

“I’m very happy and excited!” said Färén who has been out of the driver’s seat for two years. “I’ve been working on this project for a while now, and to get everything in place is wonderful. I believe that the cooperation between KHM and RL Sport will be a perfect combination for me. The experience and knowledge these two have will be a huge advantage.”

A former kart racer, Färén drove in Sweden’s Junior Rallycross class from 2007 (aged 17) before turning his hand to the Swedish Junior Touring Car circuit race series. His return to Rallycross comes with assistance of the Swedish ASN (SBF). Färén is part of the Junior Elite scheme run by the sporting authority. “It feels great to get this backing from the Swedish Federation, and I will try to get the most out of this chance. There’s a lot of new things to learn, but I will try to fight for the victory every time I jump into the car,” he said.
