Party spirits dampened

Woodland folk should have brought a boat.

When the racing finishes on Saturday evening, you need to take a walk in the woods at Höljes, specially the ‘snake pit’  just behind the spectator area overlooking the start straight. This year, however, where there are usually classic Chevrolets, assorted Volvos, Saabs and Mercs; more furniture than your average Ikea; domestic appliances and very loud music, there is a lake. A lake with a tent in it.

This is a measure of two things: just how much rain fell on Friday and, the determination of those here to have a good time. The party is still on, it’s a little soggy around the edges and not in the usual place, but here and there in the woods there is a still a good being had even if the night before already looked like the morning after.
