Foust overcomes Grönholm

Tanner Foust wins the Global Super Rally event on Friday.

American homeboy Tanner Foust (Ford Fiesta VII) was able to beat former Rally World Champion Marcus Grönholm (Ford Fiesta VII) from Finland in the final shoot-out of the Global Rallycross Championship Super Rally event on Friday. His compatriot Brian Deegan (Ford Fiesta VII) claimed third place by winning the “small final” from Manxman David Higgins (Subaru Impreza GR). Thereby the event finished with all three OMSE/Ford drivers capturing the winners rostrum.

Once again the American style gap jump produced from minor problems to major wreckage for some of the competitors. Briton Marcus Dodd’s crash with the RMR Hyundai Veloster 4×4 resulted in a hurt vertebra with temporary admission to the local hospital while America-based Pole Robert Borowicz shortened his Subaru Impreza GD with a classical somersault [see the below pictures]. Other drivers had problems with the hot weather in combination with the high altitude of the venue; Kiwi Rhys Millen (Hyundai Veloster 4×4) and Pole Art Gruszka (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9) blowing their engines.
