Tohill’s seventh Irish crown. Eriksson and Larsson win in Nitrocross

10 December / Nitrocross completed a double-header weekend at Glen Helen with Oliver Eriksson and Robin Larsson taking a winn each and Larsson leaving with a 23 point lead in the series. Conner Martell and Larsson joined Eriksson on the podium on Saturday while on Sunday Larsson was flanked by Fraser McConnell in second and Kevin Eriksson. Viktor Vranckx made his debut in the series, ninth on Saturday and fourth on Sunday while Lia Block made her first start on Sunday and placed eighth. Block had finished second in the Next final on Saturday, Casper Jansson taking a pair of wins in the class over the weekend. Patrick Gruszka was third on Saturday with Lane Vacala taking third place on Sunday. Kainan Baker was a double winner in the SxS class.

10 December / Shaded by Michael Leonard Jnr. in the first heat, Derek Tohill went on to dominate the final round of the Irish Rallycross Championship at Mondello Park and seal the title for a seventh time. Top qualifier, Tohill won the Supercar final ahead of John McCluskey and Tommy Graham. Tohill then won the Superfinal ahead of Darren Bleasdale (Vauxhall VX220) after Leonard was moved from second to fourth for a ‘driving standards’ offence, McCluskey non-finished and Graham was disqualified for the absence of an onboard judicial camera. Jason Bleasdale won the Modified class ahead of Dale Singleton (Ford Ka) and Darren Bleasdale. Anthony Kane was top of the Open Clubman class n his Mini Cooper, Christopher Grimes Jnr. won the Ford Fiesta Zetec final and Mark Keegan was best of the seven-strong Junior field. Se Og Martin took another buggy victory and PJ Doyle was best of the rallycar class in his Peugeot 206.

10 December / The first weekend of racing in what will be the last season of Trophee Andros racing took place at Val Thorens. Nathanael Berthon (Peugeot) won the first event ahead of Aurelien Panis and JB Dubourg while on the second day Dorian Boccolacci led home Yann Ehrlacher and Sebastien Loeb. Panis leads the series by one point from Dubourg. In the Elite category Gerard Fontanel was victorious in round one and Louis Gervoson won round two with Anthony Pelfrene second on both days.

This weekend / The last rallycross event of the year as far as we know is the wonderful Paulo Sergio memorial six hour race at Lousada. The 26th running of the annual event offers free entry for spectators. The Trophee Andros runners move on to Andorra for the second weekend of their season.
