22 March / The Latvian Rallycross Championship revises its calendar. The planned LVRX season opener at Sport Komplekss 333 on 17 April has now been moved to the end of the year where it will form the final round on 9 October. The rest of the original dates remain unchanged, meaning that the series will now start at Riga’s Bikernieki on 8-9 May.
23 March / RX Italia adjusts the schedule for the Campionato Italiano Rallycross by shortening the first round to form a single day event on Monday 5 April – Easter Monday. The change is made in order to better control and manage access to the the venue. The Kartcross category forms the largest part of the entry for the event which also includes Supercar and Super1600 classes. The event will take place behind closed doors and without spectators but the promoting Sport Club Maggiora will stream the whole event on Facebook. There will be a fee of €6 to watch the stream. “Last year we decided to broadcast the races for free. Unfortunately, the current situation does not allow us to still offer this service for free: the organisation of these competitions involves significant costs,” said club president Riccardo Fasola.
24 March / The season starts here! The first rallycross event of 2021 takes place this weekend when the Russian Rallycross Championship begins at Grozny. Rallycross Russia will take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, following on from the autocross championship which starts today (Wednesday). The organisers are promising video of the finals of both autocross and rallycross on its Facebook page, @rallycrossrus
It sometimes seem that half the planet as tested the RX2e car but this video of World RX star Anton Marklund giving it a go close to his home in the far north of Sweden is worth a look.
