3 December The calendar for the 2021 German Rallycross Championship are published. The DRX schedule will feature six events run over four weekends. Newly appointed championship coordinator Jan-Andre Lemme said: “When planning, we also took into account the current coronavirus situation and reduced the travel burden of the teams with two double-headers. Nevertheless, I hope, of course, that the organisers will be allowed to let spectators back to their circuits and that we all experience great motorsports together.”
22-23 May Grundau; 26-27 June Buxtehude (R2 & R3); 14-15 August Valkenswaard (NLD); 18-19 September Schluchtern (R5 & R6).
5 December The second round of the British Rallycross Championship takes place at Lydden Hill where two days of racing are staged in the Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship 5 Nations Trophy.
Driving a JC Raceteknik Audi S1, Liam Doran is top qualifier with fastest times in Q1 and Q3. Doran wins semi-final one and then leads the finals to take the victory ahead of fellow JC Racteknik driver Enzo Ide who had fastest in Q2 and the winner of SF2. Championship leader Mark Donnelly completes the podium finishers, Oli Bennett dropping to last place after picking up a 30-second penalty for missing the Joker Lap.
Notable wins among the seven supporting championships were taken by Kobe Pauwels, the 16-year-old Belgian karting star winning his first event in a car at the wheel of an Audi A1 Super1600 run by Volland Racing. There was also a debut win in RX150 for Patrick O’Donovan who graduated from Junior Rallycross with style.To see videos of finals for all classes, see the British Championship YouTube channel here.
5 December The final round of the iRacing iRX World Rallycross Championship is run on a virtual rallycross track at Sonoma and Yohann Harth outperforms teammate Jon Robertson to secure the championship title and its $10,000 prize. The final event is won by Jonne Ollikainen who leads home SET Esports teammamet Tommi Hallman with Josh Fox completing the top three. Harth places fourth in the final in which Robertson is ninth.
6 December Liam Doran continues his winning ways in the second day of racing at Lydden Hill where round three of the British Rallycross Championship is held. Fastest in all three qualifiers, Doran wins semi-final one and then passes early leader Enzo Ide to take the final. Oli Bennett makes up for his error on Saturday by taking third place with his Mini. Hal Ridge takes a strong fifth place on his Supercar race debut, just behind Ollie O’Donovan and ahead of Julian Godfrey and Tristan Ovenden. Mark Donnelly retires in lap one, denting his championship score.
In the supporting classes, Patrick O’Donovan repeated his success from Saturday to take another win in the RX150 series. Yury Belevskiy beat Kobe Pauwels to win in Super1600. 7 December CARX and the South American Rallycross Championship confirms that it will conclude its 2020 season at Autodromo de Concepcion del Uruguay on 18-20 December.
8 December iRacing reveals two new rallycross tracks for its esports platform, Charlotte Motor Speedway and Brands Hatch. Preview onboard laps for both are available in the video below.
