30 November The British Rallycross Championship is set to restart at Lydden Hill this weekend where British rallycross writer Hal Ridge will race a Supercar Ford Focus owned by Ollie O’Donovan. The car will be raced by John McGuinness in round two of the championship on Saturday with Ridge taking the wheel on Sunday. An experienced racer in Stock Hatch and Super1600, Ridge has tested various Supercars but this will be his first competitive start in the category. “I’ve been incredibly lucky to drive some amazing rallycross cars for magazine track tests in recent years, but to have the opportunity to actually race one is totally different … I still can’t really believe it’s happening. I have no expectations at all, other than to enjoy an incredible opportunity,” said Ridge. The Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship 5 Nations Trophy has also announced plans to show the finals of each category from the two days at Lydden in an ‘as live’ format on its social media and YouTube channels.

John Moloney We are sad to record the death on 28 November of John Moloney (80). The Limerick-based Irishman had been a hugely successful competitor in motorcycle grasstrack and scrambling (motocross) before switching to cars where he won the All Ireland Hot Rod Championships on both tarmac and grass surfaces. Switching to rallycross he raced a Porsche 911 before buying a Metro 6R4 in which he won the Irish Championship in both 1989 and 1990. Moving on to Escorts after the 6R4, and sometimes jumping back to one his beloved 6R4s, Moloney raced into the first decade of the 21st century before hanging up his helmet. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.

Yuri Belevskiy and Kobe Pauwels are on the Super1600 card in a brace of Volland Racing Audi A1s.If you want something else to watch we have also been nudged in the direction of this highlights video for the Polish Rallycross Championship, Mistrzostw Polski Rallycross which has no commentary but plenty of action.

We are doing the best to keep our calendar of events and where you can watch rallycross in 2020 up to date for you. Postponed and cancelled events remain shown but marked as a record of the carnage wrought on the 2020 schedule by Covid-19.
