Roger, Sierra, out

Another of those moves that was never going to end well. This is the 1989 Finnish round of the FIA European Rallycross Championship, which was run at the Ahveniston Moottorirata/Ahvenisto Race Circuit at Hameenlinna. This particular battle features the Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworths Norwegians Bjorn Skogstad and Roger Sandberg with Skogstad coming off worst and ploughing into those strategically placed heaps of gravel marking the track. Sandberg went on to win the final but at the end of the year in which the ‘Division One’ victories were shared between the two Norwegians, Englishman Trevor Reeves and Swede Kenneth Hansen it was Hansen to claimed the title, the first of his 14 European Championships.
