10 August The fourth round of the Estonian Rallycross Championship is won by Roland Murakas (Ford Fiesta) who leads home Raini Roomets (Skoda Fabia) and Henri Kalmist (Mitsubishi Lancer E6). Roomets had qualified on pole at Kehala but was overcome by third starter Murakas in the final. Roomets continues to lead the series. Janno Ligur (Skoda Fabia) led home Siim Saluri (Citroen C2) and Finn Toni Reunanen (Ford Ka) in the Super1600 final. The TouringCar category was won by Siim Sundema (Fiesta) and in Crosskart there was family success for Eero Nogene and Joosep Ralf Nogene, the latter winning the Junior final.
10 August In the first day of Titans RX racing at Montalegre in Portugal it is Kevin Hansen who wins round five of the championship. Andrew Jordan places second with Timmy Hansen just ahead of Toomas Heikkinen and completing the podium finishers.
10 August Lydden Hill announces plans to run a Truck Rallycross demonstration on August Bank Holiday Monday alongside the fifth round of the Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship. Trucksport UK’s Stuart Oliver said, “It’s early days, but we plan to run a series that includes races on three race circuits and two rallycross circuits, which would be something very different to anything currently happening anywhere in the world.” Trucks were demonstrated on the rallycross track at Lydden in 1986. Portugal briefly tried trucks in rallycross a decade ago and in France there is a Camion Cross series run on autocross tracks.
11 August Round six of Titans RX is run on the second day at Montalegre where Timmy Hansen takes victory ahead of Kevin Hansen and Toomas Heikkinen. The three drivers continue to dominate the points table, Kevin leading the series and ten points ahead of his brother and Heikkinen who are equal. Ronny C Rock is fourth, 58 points adrift of the top three. A Super1600 support race is won by Joaquim Machado (Peugeot 208) and Spaniard Anton Muinos Miras is best of the Kartcross field.
13 August Hedstroms Motorsport replaces Daniel Thoren with Christer Dalmans for the Euro RX standalone event at the Estering, Buxtehude. The Euro RX of Germany features Euro Supercar and Super1600. Dalmans makes his debut in the series on the back of strong RallyX Nordic appearances. Peter Hedstrom will drive the team’s latest acquisition, the VW Polo used by Anton Marklund in 2018, as a test outing, the multiple Swedish champion having announced his intention to focus on driver coaching and mentoring in the future.
14 August Subaru of America launches the seventh season of its Launch Control video series and brings news that the programmes will be available on Amazon Prime. The first four episodes of the new series will air on 28 August on both Prime and YouTube, the launch to be followed by fortnightly releases. Season six is already available on Prime. Subaru Motorsports USA’s assault on the ARX series is featured in the programmes.
16 August Americas Rallycross announces the ARX2 Cooper Tires Combine, a one-day event at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on 7 October to test ARX2 cars. ARX2 is the official development category of ARX. “Cooper Tire is a long-time supporter of the development of race car drivers in North America”, stated Chris Pantani, director of motorsports for Cooper Tire. “Our partnerships with the Road to Indy presented by Cooper Tires, as well as being the official tire of the Lucas Oil School of Racing, and now serving as the title partner of the ARX2 Cooper Tires Combine, shows our dedication to the training and development of young race car drivers across multiple disciplines. The creation of this programme coincides with our multi-year extension of ARX to help bolster the team rosters and the appeal of rallycross in North America.”
