5 December A revised calendar for the FIA World Rallycross Championship is approved by the FIA World Motor Sport Council. The new schedule reduces the championship to ten events, the change made to help teams manage costs. The date for World RX of South Africa is also changed to November 9-10. World RX of USA is the event dropped from the championship. The September 28-29 date at COTA will, however, be maintained and run exclusively for the Americas Rallycross (ARX) series.

5 December As it continues to build towards its World RX debit in 2019, ES Motorsport-BR Group appoints Sebastien Lessoneur as Technical Director. The Frenchman has worked with Andreas Bakkerud at EKS Audi Sport this year, and was previously on Hyundai’s WRC programme.

6 December SpeedMachine, the festival event that forms the British round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship, will be sponsored by Dayinsure in 2019. Dayinsure  is the UK leader in short-term vehicle insurance and has previously backed Wales Rally GB. “We have thoroughly enjoyed our involvement with Wales Rally GB and during that time our business has gone from strength-to-strength – now we are building on that success by introducing the benefits of Dayinsure to a new, younger and more dynamic generation of customers,” said Dennis Ryan, the company’s Founder and Chairman.
