The fifth round of the Andros Trophy ice racing series took place at Lans En Vercors where Franck Lagorce (Dacia Lodgy) claimed victory on the opening day to close the gap to the points leader Jean-Baptiste Dubourg (Renault Clio), who finished fourth, the Euro RX driver carrying the maximum success ballast of 40kgs. Benjamin Riviere (Citroen DS3) finished second while DTM Audi driver Adrien Tambay (Audi A1) finished third. Rallycross drivers Andrea Dubourg (Renault Clio) and Toomas Heikkinen (Mazda 3) finished sixth and seventh.

Lagorce won again on day two, with multiple champion and sometime rallycross driver Jean-Philippe Dayraut (Mazda 3) second and Tambay again third. Tambay’s team-mate, Ex-F1 driver Olivier Panis (Audi A1) was fourth ahead of Heikkinen in fifth. Dubourg brothers Jean-Baptiste and Andrea finished seventh and eighth. JB Dubourg continues to lead the championship with two rounds remaining, but his margin has been cut to 15 points. The penultimate round will be held this weekend at Super Besse.

The first round of the RallyX On Ice winter series takes place this weekend at Pitea, where 15 Supercar Lites will take part. Drivers include Tejas Hirani, Thomas Bryntesson, Niclas Gronholm, Patrik Sandell and Reinis Nitiss amongst others.

Hungarian JWRC driver Lukacs Kornel will compete in the FIA European Rallycross Championship this year, the official World RX website has confirmed. Kornel will drive the Ford Focus Mk3 used by Belgian racer Koen Pauwels in 2015. “We tried to choose a car that has all the best parts. I’ve finished rallying. With my driving style, rallycross is the best way for the future for me. I like the idea of a sprint race, you can save nothing, you just drive as fast as you can! This is the future of car racing,” he said.

The calendar for the 2016 Global Rallycross Championship has been released. The American-based championship will be run over 12 events, starting on May 21st for a double-header at Phoenix Park.
