Hopkins’ RS200 for Maynard’s Retro return

The Ford RS200 Group B car in which the great Trevor Hopkins ended his rallycross career will returnĀ  to the tracks this year when Terry Maynard enters the car in Britain’s Retro Rallycross series.

The reappearance of Hopkins’ RS200 will also mark Maynard’s return to rallycross, in recent years he has been active in historic events but previously drove a variety of interesting cars in rallycross including a TR8 and a four-wheel drive Sierra.

Maynard bought the ex-Hopkins car last month, he and his team are now hard at work stripping and rebuilding it and have targeted their home event at Croft in October for the debut of the car.

The Retro Rallycross series has become a popular part of British Rallycross Championship events and Rob Gibson’s MG Metro 6R4 is a regular favourite. “Fans want to see Group B cars as well as modern machines. The Haynes RS200 is an iconic rallycross car but it has not been used in years and needs to be properly restored,” said Maynard.
