After last month’s successful clubmans rallycross event at Croft the BTRDA has announced a calendar of six events for its 2014 Clubmans Rallycross Championship. The series will use the new track at Blyton Park for two events, has three rounds at Pembrey, two of them on a double-header weekend in June, and the final at Croft. there willalso be a standalone non-championship event at the end of the year, this now also scheduled to run at Blyton on November 30. In a departure from earlier plans, the three Pembrey events and the Croft finale will be open to Supercars, although there are restrictions on the drivers who can compete in the category. The Junior class in the series will also be open to any car of up to 1400cc. The bulk of the entries are expected to come from the SuperModified and Production two-wheel classes that starred at Croft (see video below). “We have had over 150 enquiries about Clubman Rallycross in the past 18 months. If we can get some of these drivers to come and have a go as well as current Clubman competitors then we believe we will have a stable base of around 50-60 competitors at each Championship round,” said championship coordinator Bill Skermer.

Working hard to achieve her aim of making it into the World Rallycross Championship, Ramona Karlsson decamped to Stockholm this week where she has run a campaign called #RallyTaxi. Offering busy marketing executives a free lift around the city between meetings, or from the airport or station to their office, Karlsson has traded a bit of festive season goodwill for the chance to sell her WorldRX campaign to those decision makers while she has them as a captive audience. “This is a very busy time, and it’s hard to find meeting times with sponsors, so I am offering marketing managers a ride in my car between their meetings. I save them time, and at the same time I have possibility to tell them more about my plans for next year. I’ve called this #RallyTaxi and it’s had a great reaction and some great publicity here in Sweden. I’ve had some interesting discussions and the days have been quite busy. This time I give the marketing people a ride in my private car, but if the conversation leads to a sponsorship agreement, I will bring my racecar next time!” said Karlsson.

Crosskart superstar Lukas Walfridson has been confirmed as the new driver in the Helmia Motorsport team for 2014, taking over from his uncle, Stig-Olov Walfridson and due to partner race weekend team mate Tord Linnerud in the five round European Rallycross Championship, and at least the Swedish round of the World championship at his home Holjes track.

If you are in the market for an unusual gift, or a new business investment, the Eurocircuito de Lousada in Portugal has been advertised for sale. The venue of European Rallycross Championship events between 1991 and 2006, and then again, for the last time in 2008, Lousada was a wildly popular venue with a large and passionate crowd. These days a new road has separated the paddock from the racetrack, and some of the ancillary buildings at the track are now occupied by a nightclub. The track continues to host national events in Portugal and could be yours for the advertised figure of €1.65m.
