Unbeaten Grosset-Janin set for Loheac RX

Four events, four victories. Jerome Grosset-Janin and Chanoine Renault are having a good time in the 2013 French Rallycross Championship. Now the title favourites have set their sights on making a mark in the FIA European Rallycross Championship and have placed an entry for the Rallycross of France at Loheac.

Or perhaps that should be that Grosset-Janin is intent not on making his mark, but proving he can finish what he started; at Dreux last year he led the final but was one of those who lost out, ending his race after damaged sustained in the first lap.

Chanoine Renault runs its Supercar Renault Clio III with Mtechonolgies so is able to call on engineers with European championship experience. “We prepare the best with Mtechnologies and I have analysed what has happened in previous events by watching the European championship on TV. We have to be well prepared and vigilant to achieve the goal we have set ourselves but we also need to have a little luck, specially in the draw for the first heat. It will be a perfect event for us to show how the team can perform and what we can do at an International level,” said Grosset-Janin who aims for a top 12 place and a start in the semi-finals in the event at which he will also celebrate a personal milestone. “This event will be special for me because it takes place 10 years after my first event; I started racing at Loheac in 2003. The entry list is going to be exceptional and to take part in a race like this as a pilot is an incredible opportunity!”

Team boss Philippe Chanoine is also determined that his squad should demonstrate its ability at Loheac. “This is an opportunity for us to show what we can do in relation to European and world champions who will be present, and to assess our level. We will invite our partners to join us at the event where the goal is to show that a European or World campaign is possible,” said Chanoine.

Grosset-Janin (29) is open on his ambition to progress to international events and, in his driving days, Chanoine was one of a relatively small group of French racers to have ventured into the European championship. Both, however, have prioritised success in the competitive French championship first, and RallycrossRX at Loheac is a welcome diversion from their 2013 priority as well as the opportunity to test themselves further.
