A quieter week with rallycross ‘between events’. Across the Atlantic, Brian Deegan has turned to his Metal Mulisha fans to help resolve a date clash dilemma. Double-booked to drive in the off-road championship in America and X Games Barcelona on the weekend of May 19, Deegan loaded his plea to fans in favour of the latter event. A short message issued by “The General” pointed out: “Deegan has already won four off-road championships in multiple classes in the past four years. He also took victories in two different classes at Lake Elsinore last year. Simply put, he’s accomplished just about everything there is to accomplish already in a short off-road careerā€¦To his fans, the choice is clear: Deegan has more unfinished business in rally”. If you want to influence which way Deegan goes you can join the vote by going to Deegan’s Twitter (@mmgeneral), Facebook (/mmdeegan), or Instagram (@briandeegan38) and submit the hashtag #BrianDeeganRally or #BrianDeeganOffRoad.

Having run a large number of demonstration laps during the Portuguese round of the FIA European Rallycross Championship, Dakar rally superstar Nani Roma is confirmed as a starter in the Barcelona X Games.

Announced at the end of last year, the Supercar Lites category is now slated to appear at all US-based GRC events. The one-make series will feature four-wheel drive, spaceframe cars developed by OMSE and built by Turkish company Avitas. The cars are powered by a 2.4-litre, 300bhp, Duratec motor.

One driver targeting the lites class is young Finn Joni Wiman. Before he shifts his focus to America, however, Wiman will return to the Super1600 category of the FIA European championship. The protege of Marcus Gronholm, Wiman is to driveĀ  a Set Promotion Renault Clio in his home event at Kouvola.

With winter finally over the Swedish championship is ready for its first event of the year at Strangnas this weekend. Circuit race star Johan Kristoffersson is listed as a starter in the event where he will drive the VW Scirocco Supercar that he will also run in the Swedish RallycrossRX event at Holjes in July. It will be the first competitive rallycross event for the 24-year-old son of former rallycross star Tommy Kristoffersson. Another notable on the entry list is 16-year-old My Adolfsson who will tackle the Junior class in an Opel Corsa. “Last year, I took ten second places and a win in folkrace so we decided to move to rallycross while I seemed to have the momentum. It’s fly, rallycross goes so much faster and the competition is tougher, but there will also be extra fun when I beat the boys,” she said. You can follow the Strangnas event, in which current Swedish champion Peter Hedstrom is also expected to start, live here.

Having planned to run his new Peugeot 208 in the third round of the British Rallycross Championship at Knockhill, Andy Scott switches tack and is to head for this weekend’s home event armed with his trusty Peugeot 306 Supercar. The machine in which he took his first British event win at Knockhill back in 2010.
