Bakkerud plays safe in Germany

Double Super1600 champion Andreas Bakkerud decided to stick with his Set Promotion Renault Twingo for the final round of the 2012 championship despite having the chance to race a Supercar in Germany.

“There was a good opportunity to drive a Citroën C4 here with Hansen but in the end we thought the best thing was to stay with Super1600 and finish the year,” said Bakkerud. “It would have been good to race  Supercar here and, if I had got a good result it would have been a really good way to show what I can do but without testing and to make that change so quickly there is always the risk that things go wrong and it’s q big risk financially to do that at the end of the year. We thought about it carefully and eventually decided that it’s best to drive the Twingo here,” said Bakkerud whio is continuing to put all his efforts into making the step to Supercar in 2013.

“I have achieved what I wanted this year and the goal now is to get  Supercar drive for next year, that’s the only thing I want and what all of my effort is going on, I’m determined to be in a Supercar next year,” said the two-time Super1600 champion.
