World Council confirms IMG as promoter

The FIA World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) has today confirmed that IMG will promote the European Rallycross Championship from 2013. The deal was first announced following the June meeting of the WMSC, today’s statement providing confirmation of the deal tat will run for at least 10 years.

The FIA statement released following today’s WMSC meeting deal with many topics, the portion relevant to Rallycross saying: “The WMSC agreed that IMG, one of the leaders in the sports marketing industry, become the Promoter of the Championship for a minimum of 10 years from 2013.  Working in conjunction with the Off-Road Commission, IMG is focused on making the competition more attractive for the drivers and spectators, and adapting the format of events to television.”

The introduction of a promoter to Rallycross is something that competitors and event organisers alike have long desired and in the world’s biggest and oldest sport’s marketing specialists, the sport has found a partner of unrivalled reputation.
