Timerzyanov is champion

“It’s been fun here, I knew what I had to do for the championship and did not feel any pressure, now that it’s over and I am the champion I can drive for fun in the final, the rest are racing for points but I’m just smiling inside the car!” Timur Timerzyanov has done enough today to put the European Rallycross Championship beyond the reach of Tanner Foust, his last remaining rival for the title. By qualifying for the A final, Timerzyanov is guaranteed to leave Finland with at least 137 points. Even if he wins the event here, Foust cannot better 109… Entering this weekend’s event, Foust’s only hope was to win with Timerzyanov out of the points.
The Suepr1600 title hangs in the balance this afternoon too, Andreas Bakkerud guaranteed an A final start while Ulrik Linnemann languishes in the C final. If Linnemann does not make it to the A final, Bakkerud will be champion. If Linnemann does manage to progress to the main event, Bakkerud may still win, if he can gain six points more than the Dane.
Things are closer in TouringCar where 17 points split Anton Marklund and Derek Tohill at present.
