Poles decided

by Tim Whittington |

Timur Timerzyanov set fastest time in the second qualifying heat and will start the Supercar A final from pole, irrespective of whether he drives the third heat or not. If not easy, this is beginning to look quite comfortable for Timerzyanov who won his race easily and ended the session 0.1s ahead of Tanner Foust who won the penultimate race and continued his fight back into the event.

The last race of the heat was delayed by ten minutes; Alexander Hvaal and Liam Doran making contact in the first corner, the former sustaining a rear puncture and Doran rear suspension damage. Although both were still running, the race was red flagged. The pair were allowed to return to the paddock, Hvaal then going back to the grid with a fresh wheel and tyre but Doran’s problems could not be quickly resolved and he did make the restart. Andy Scott also fell foul of first corner trouble, a puncture ending is race in the first lap.

Joni Wiman can also take things easy in the next couple of hours if he wants, the young Finn on pole in Super1600 having set fastest time ahead of Teemu Suninen. Robin Larsson again made great use of the Joker Lap to win and set fastest time in TouringCar, Derek Tohill second fastest this time while Firmin Caddedu won in JRX, ensuring that pole position in all four classes are already decided and that the third heats become a battle for second on the grid.
