Crazy weeks
by Henk de Winter |
It’s been crazy weeks says Belgian TouringCar driver Koen Pauwels. “The preparation for the upcoming two ‘home’ ERC events for Pauwels at the Duivelsberg and Eurocircuit, and the finishing touch on the teams latest new Ford Focus Supercar. With the Belgian and Dutch round of the European Rallycross Championship the expectations of the Belgian TouringCar driver are high. The goal that Pauwels has set for himself is to be twice in a top three position. The latest wins in the Nationals events in Belgium and Holland has strengthened the confidence in a good result at both ERC events.
In the recent weeks Pauwels worked very hard of finishing touch of the teams newest racingcar, a Ford Focus. This Supercar is for rent or sale says Pauwels. “We were close to a deal with a driver for the Belgian weekend. But unfortunately the deal went of at the beginning of this week.” The brand new Focus will not be racing in Maasmechelen. For the race in Holland Pauwels Motorsport let RallycrossWorld know that there are some contacts for racing the car, in Holland or in one of the next 2012 ERC-events.
The Focus is build according to the last modifications and has a Cosworth 500Bhp (900 Nm) engine under the hood. The gearbox is made by Sellholm and the shocks are coming from Proflex. “It’s been after the Scandinavian rounds crazy with the working hours to make sure that the Ford Fiesta TouringCar is in a very good shape. We worked also hard to get the Focus ‘race-ready’. I’m looking forward to the next coming events. The goal is the podium”.
