Crunch time for Lindefjell

Former Group N champion Guttorm Lindefjell will review his involvement in the European Rallycross Championship. Lindefjell started the year with enough budget to get to the end of round six, last weekend’s Swedish event at Höljes, and having done that is now out of money. “I don’t know exactly but I think I will stop now, the sponsor money is gone and I don’t want to pay the next four races from my own money,” said Lindefjell who admitted his view of the situation may be different had his results so far been better, “Yes, if there was a chance of the title then I would probably carry on, but it costs €15,000 each race for me and I cannot be champion because the results have not been good enough, so probably Sweden was my last race.”

After starting the year with a solid fourth place in Britain, Lindefjell had a nightmare run in the French round and failed to score points. He then crashed out of the C final in Austria, made it to the B in Hungary and scored just two points from another C final run in Norway, his car below par after a practice crash that damaged the suspension. In Sweden he climbed out of the C final after finishing second to Jean-Luc Pailler, but then retired in the first lap of the B final.
