by Tim Whittington |
Mats Lysen will start the first qualifying heat at Höljes with his heart in his mouth an his ears more finely attuned that ever to the engine not of his Renault Clio Supercar after the motor developed an as yet undiagnosed ‘noise’.
The Young Norwegian and car owner Stig-Olov Walfridson have worked with engineers in the Helmia team to assess the situation and have taken the decision to run the car as it is. “There’s a knocking noise but we do not know what it is,” said Walfridson, “There is not time to change the engine before the first heat and even if we did tat the penalty is eight places and we don’t want that, you are almost out of the event. We are going to take the chance and hope that the engine will keep going.”
