Heikkinen injured in X Games crash

Finnish driver Toomas Heikkinen suffered a broken ankle during a crash in the ‘Jump Practice’ for Sunday’s X Games in Los Angeles. ESPN, owner of the X Games, reported that the 21-year-old also suffered abdominal injuries in the crash in which his OMSE Fiesta Supercar struck the vertical of the landing ramp for the ‘gap jump’. After the impact the car fell into the gap on its roof, Heikkinen managing to get himself out of the car which briefly caught fire. Reports say that he was conscious and talking to the medical team while they treated him at the scene before he was removed to hospital where his ankle has been operated on.

Video of the crash appears to show the right rear suspension/wheel of the Fiesta already damaged as Heikkinen takes the jump.
