Enerberg plans new car and 2013 return

‘Rallycross in Hell’ had a hellish start for European TouringCar champion Lars Øivind Enerberg who made his first appearance in the 2012 European Rallycross Championship in his home event, but was not credited with a time in the first heat after his car was pushed into a spin and suffered damage in a first corner incident that also involved Tom Tånevik and Robin Larsson, the latter being black flagged. Enerberg managed to rejoin the race and limped round to the chequered flag, but having been lapped by the leaders did not get a time.

Absent from the ERC so far this year, Enerberg is focused on making a return to top flight competition in 2013. “We were working with an agency that promised to find us sponsorship for this year’s championship, but one month before Lydden [the first round] they said they hadn’t got any money for us. They let us down and it was too late to do anything else,” said Enerberg who has taken part in national championship events in Norway this year. “I decided to race in Norway just for practice and to do something. It’s not so bad because the level is quite high in the class here now. My plan is to race in Sweden next weekend and Germany at the end of the year but all the time I am working hard on plans for next year and we are making progress. If everything works out then I will be back in the European championship, in the TouringCar class but with a new car.”
After bagging three event wins and finishing fourth in 2010 when he first appeared in the ERC, Enerberg crushed his opponents last year, winning seven of the ten rounds, never finishing outside of the top six and overcoming budgetary problems as his claimed his first European title.
