The car has become available for Meyer to race as August has stepped up to the team’s second new Fabia II. Having run a full ERC schedule in 2010 and ’11, Meyer admitted that he was not unhappy at having missed some of the 2012 events. “I felt a bit tired, or not perhaps tired but unmotivated, at the end of last year and I wasn’t able to drive because there wasn’t a car ready for me at the start of the year. I decided that it would be okay to drive a few races this and think more about 2013,” said Meyer who has a short schedule of four events planned, Sweden, Belgium and his home event at the Estering in Germany following this weekend. “It would be good to be able to do a full season next year and I hope that if René [Münnich, the team boss] has his new Supercar ready that there might be a chance for me to race one of the new Fabias in Super1600.”
Having established his reputation in the German national championship, Meyer stepped up to the ERC in 2010, racing with Münnich Motorsport and ending the year placed seventh and with a win in the German ERC round under his belt. The start of the 2011 season brought some technical problems, but Meyer fought back strongly and completed the year in fifth place and with a best finish of second place in Sweden.
