Holte plays watch and wait

Unable to secure the budget to race his Volvo C30 Supercar since his aborted attempt to join the Global Rallycross Championship in America, Frode Holte will spend the next two weekends on the sidelines watching his car being raced by young compatriot Daniel Holten, but hopes to get back into the driving seat himself before the end of the year.

Holten (20) has shown well in Super1600 over the last couple of years but his home event this weekend and next week’s Swedish event at Höljes will be his first Supercar races. The young racer has tested the C30 and Holte feels confident in his young charge, “It doesn’t feel too bad watching, but it’s not as good as driving. Daniel is a very good driver so I think he will be okay although this is very different from the car he is used too and perhaps he’s using too much throttle at the moment!,” said Holte who placed fourth in the 2012 European Rallycross Championship, gaining his first ERC victory in France along the way.

Holte does not currently have a firm plan on when he will race again but is increasingly confident of making a full time return in 2013. “I hope that I can race before the end of the year and it looks as though 2013 will be okay, I’m working on that and it’s not certain yet, but I’m getting closer,” he said.
