Cut short

by Tim Whittington |

The first day of the Monster Energy International Rallycross Festival has ended early and without a race being run because of a fault with the start light and jump start detection system. Timed practice had been completed and the Super1600 class was in the dummy grid area ready to race when the fault occurred. After almost 40-minute of effort by technicians, the decision was taken to abandon the first day of the event.

The situation was made in view of Lydden Hill Race Circuit’s 1800 curfew on activities. Even had the fault been fixed, it was unlikely that a complete class could have done the first heat and with track conditions unlikely to be the same tomorrow morning, that would mean re-running races. As the situation stands at the moment, racing will start at 0900 tomorrow.
