Børseth plots mix and match season

Former European Rallycross Champion Knut Ove Børseth is to dovetail a short season of selected European championship events with a move to circuit racing in the new Norwegian ThunderCar Championship (NTCC).

Børseth reduced his activities in Rallycross after launching his Drive for Life scheme – a charity organisation that use cars and motor sport to work with disadvantaged youngsters to help give them a trade. The continuing development of Drive for Life has also influenced Børseth’s decision to take on the NTCC campaign. “The races are almost all in Norway so they require less time and less travelling and that fits well with my commitment to Drive for Life,” said Børseth. The Trondheim-based Norwegian will drive in a two-car NTCC team, along with established circuit racer Håvard Gustad and has bought Thed Björk’s Swedish Camaro Cup championship winning car for his debut season.

Rallycross features in Børseth’s plans for 2012, specially his home event at Lånke. Børseth’s Ford Focus Supercar has been rebuilt over the winter, the work entrusted to Marius Gjevik and Bull Star Performance. Børseth drove the car in just two ERC events last year, making it into the B final on home turf, but then running into problems and non-scoring in Sweden.
