German team Münnich Motorsport yesterday announced that team principal René Münnich is set to form a two car Super1600 team together with his fiancé Mandie August to compete in the 2012 European Rallycross Championship. Both drivers are going to make use of new second generation Škoda Fabias, Münnich’s car is in the making while the racer of Rallycross lady August [see pictures] was allready shown last autumn during the “End of Season” test day at the new German Rallycross venue, the ‘Driving Center Groß Dölln’.

“Our new Audi S3 Supercars will not be ready in time for the upcoming season and my 2011 Škoda Fabia II Supercar will be send to the USA soon. Therefore, I decided to start in the Super1600 category of the ERC. After some tests with the the ready to race Fabia of Mandie we are certain that we will have competitive cars available,” said All-Inkl.com boss Münnich. Due to a very busy programme (including the FIA GT1 World Championship, where Münnich Motorsport is racing two brandnew Mercedes-Benz AMG GT3 cars) the team will not be able to compete in all the rounds of the German Rallycross Championship, although at least Mandie August is looking forward to sporadical DRX show-ups.
