Steffen with Škoda while Volland retires

German Andreas Steffen is going to drive the 2011 German Rallycross Championship winning Super1600 Škoda Fabia II of Rolf Volland in the 2012 DRX series as well as in selected ERC rounds. This news was released from Hamburg via Wesel, together with a design for the new livery of the car, thought up by DMSB Rallycross official and professional designer Michael Höse. ASN Buxtehude chairman Steffen will be backed by ‘red kiwi’, the leading supplier of electronic cigarettes (aka e-cigarettes) in Germany. The headquarter of the company ‘red kiwi GmbH’ is at Seevetal, not far away from the Estering.

While Steffen is set to drive his latest Fabia triple European Autocross and 13 times German Rallycross champion Rolf Volland has recently announced that he is not keen to chase after a 14th German title, but instead going to retire as a Rallycross driver. The Bavarian will overlook the 2012 ERC programme of Russian Super1600 competitor Vadim Makarov and another to be named Russian customer. Asked about his own future plans Volland released rather poor information of working, together with Škoda, on new ideas for motorsport with either hybrid vehicles or even electric cars.
