Royal guests to visit Knut Ove Børseth

During last April the 2009 European Rallycross Champion Knut Ove Børseth, together with spouse and co-founder Siri Mette Gynnild, has set up the organisation ‘Kjør for livet’ [Drive for life] to give young people the possibility to use their leisure time to experience more fun in daily life. The idea was to use work on cars and in motorsport as a vehicle and impetus to start teamwork and grow teamspirit. Within a short period of time the organisation found the interest of the Norwegian Royalties, namely Crown Prince Haakon Magnus of Norway and his wife Mette-Marit, and subsequently became one of the four projects the royal couple is going to back and to cooperate with in the future. The plan of the organisation is to have no less than two dozen local clubs spread all over Norway already by 2013, claims project coordinator Jan Tore Brustad.

Monday next week Haakon and Mette-Marit will both visit the headquarter of the organisation at the village of Ler, Melhus, situated in the Sør-Trøndelag county and near the town of Trondheim. They will take a look how things develop and run, before a visit to the Bollandsmoen Motorsportsenter and its Rallycross track is on the agenda, where the son and heir apparent to Harald V of Norway will be offered a co-drive in the 550+bhp Ford Focus Supercar of the organisation’s daily leader Knut Ove Børseth. “This will be a very special day in life for all the people of this area, not only for us and the kids,” said an expectant Knut Ove Børseth today.
