Bakkerud riding Stina

Earlier this year Norwegian Sverre Isachsen had promised his compatriot Andreas Bakkerud a test drive in his 560+bhp Ford Focus II Supercar – in case the youngster would be able to win the European championship for the Super1600 drivers. Today the hat-trick champ has kept his promise, at the Lyngåsbane, the home of the Norwegian ERC round for many a year, Bakkerud had his one-day stand with ‘Stina’. “This was a dream coming true. Since my childhood and the days when Martin Schanche and all the other heroes were chasing around in monster cars like this I wanted to do the same. And it was really intense and so far the best experience of my career. The acceleration is absolutely tremendous,” said the Set Promotion Renault Clio campaigner. “It is not clear yet what 2012 will bring for me, but certain is at least that I’m looking forward to bring the second ERC gold medal home to Bergen,” claimed the Super1600 champion who yesterday became 20 years old.
