Champs lead as time slips away
by Tim Whittington |
At the end of the first heat the picture is familiar; Andreas Bakkerud, Lars Øivind Enerberg and Sverre Isachsen underlining their champion status by setting fastest times. Isachsen went in the first of the Supercar races (having lost his time from practice yesterday) and took an easy win over Peter Hedström. The rest did not help their own causes, several incidents and accidents costing favoured runners time on the track. These incidents also delayed the event further, the first heat ending at 1018, 18-minutes after the second heat should have started.
Kenneth Hansen and Timur Timerzyanov both retired with steering and suspension damage after different first corner incidents, Toomas Heikkinen spun out and was collected by Pavel Koutný, Jos Kuypers and Kevin Procter both retired from strong positions with technical problems, Procter leading his race handsomely from Alexander Hvaal who ended up 13th. Andy Scott finished but is down in 27th after a time consuming first lap spin, he also having been tangled in the race that claimed Hansen.
The second heat has now just started (1039) and with the event running behind schedule and almost no time between heats our coverage today will be brief. You can track results for the heats via the event timekeeper from the below results link.
