GT1WC driver Basseng at Sosnová

One of the late entries for the final round of the ERC at Sosnová in the Czech Republic came from the German Münnich Motorsport team. Münnich’s FIA GT1 World Championship team manager and racer of one of the two All-Inkl.com Lamborghini Murciélagos [together with former DTM driver Markus Winkelhock] Marc Basseng is going to drive the VW Polo III/6N2 formerly used by René Münnich’s fiancé Mandie August in order to demonstrate that the currently for sale older generation Polo is still a worthwhile Super1600 car. Basseng has already competed in three Rallycross events so far where he raced in three different categories. In the 2009 German ERC round at Buxtehude he replaced his boss, who was still not able to compete after a controversial accident during the Austrian ERC round at Melk, in his Supercar Škoda Fabia I. However, due to technical problems with the 550+bhp vehicle Basseng was not able to qualify himself for the finals. While in August 2010 he claimed the victory of the D4 contenders during the DRX round at Schlüchtern with the old VW Golf III of Münnich Motorsport in June of this year he drove the ERC Super1600 Škoda Fabia of Clemens Meyer in the Gründau DRX event to a fine second place behind Rolf Volland.
