Every picture tells a story – Vintage Rallycross photo of the week 37/2011

It was a very wet, muddy and dark Rallycross event in October 1981 at the Duivelsbergcircuit at Maasmechelen in Belgium and all I could do was taking some panning pictures from near the finish line. Thanx to using a flashlight a couple of the slides turned out to be really nice after the very few rolls of film from that day were developed. This one shows Briton Dave ‘The Baron’ Fuell and his 260+bhp Ford Escort RS1800 who eventually claimed the third place of the Over 1600cc category. Dutchman Ed van Schie (Ford Escort RS1800) won the A final while Master of the House and Belgian subscription champion François Monten (VW 1303S Turbo) made it to sixth place only on that occasion.
