Battery gives British racer energy for Europe.

British Super1600 racer Andy Knowles hopes to make the move to the European championship in 2012 having secured backing for his racing from Battery Energy Drink.

Knowles ran with a small amount of branding from the Finnish-owned company on his Citroën C2 in the recent Lydden British championship event and has now signed a two-year agreement. “I’m going to finish this year’s British championship with the same colour scheme that I’ve had this year but with Battery Energy Drink on the car too, we’ll change the design for next year,” said Knowles, adding that his 2012 programme will also be sorted in the winter, “I want to do the European championship but I don’t know yet how much of it we’ll be able to do, I need to get some results for Battery Energy Drink over the next few months and then we’ll make decisions about next year.”

New to the UK market, Battery has added Rallycross to a portfolio of motor sport activity that includes drag racing, motocross and superbikes.

Knowles started his Rallycross career in the Minicross category, taking a year out from racing to build the Citroën which he runs together with his father, former Rallycrosser Dave. “We’re improving the car all the time and I was really pleased to be so close to the Supernational pace at Lydden last month,” said Knowles.
