Trond Wilhelm Marthinsen, Ole Håbjørg and Stian Haugan are this year’s Norwegian Rallycross champions. The fifth and final round of the series took place on Saturday September 3 at the Vinjarmoen Motorbane at Dokka and was marked by heavy rainfalls.
In the SuperNational class up to 1600cc the last event as well as the series was won by Trond Wilhelm Marthinsen in his Citroën Saxo. Before winning the finale he also won two other of the fife NRC rounds. Thommy Tesdal drove his Opel Corsa to fourth place to bring the silver medal home while bronze went to Asgeir Taraldsen (Peugeot 206) after claiming the third place at Dokka.
The SuperNational category up to 2000cc saw the championship’s gold falling to Ole Håbjørg (BMW 1-series). Like Marthinsen in the 1600 class he had also won two of the previous four rounds. The NRC silver went to Henning Nyberg (Mazda RX-7), while Åland-Finn with Norwegian address and racing licence John “Pirkka” Karlsson (Mazda RX-8) claimed bronze.
The title for SuperNationals over 2000cc was bagged by Stian Haugan (Citroën Xsara). He became also the class winner at Dokka, in a final that witnessed an initial crash and its aftermath. Terje Morstad (BMW E46) ended up with silver, although he was excluded here and remained pointless. The bronze medal went to Rune Engesvoll (Volvo S40).
