‘Gentleman Racer’ gives new Focus III its debut.

Jos Jansen will give Pauwels Motorsport’s newly ‘homologated’ Focus III Supercar its race debut in this weekend’s Dutch round of the European Rallycross Championship. The car was built with the intention of former WRC star François Duval racing it in last weekend’s Belgian event, but when the deal fell through, the car was not raced. Heralded as the ‘best ever built’ by team boss Koen Pauwels, the new car differs from the Focus II in a number of key areas that are predicted to improves its handling. Jansen has raced with Pauwels Motorsport this year, his first season in Rallycross being conducted at the wheel of Focus I.

Note: Since August 4 the Ford Focus 1.6 Duratec TI-VCT is included in the ‘List of cars not homologated with the FIA but eligible in Supercars/Super1600/TouringCars’.
