Reeves Corner destroyed in riots

Former ERC ace’s company hurt in riots.

Reeves Corner, the landmark furniture store owned by former Rallycrosser Trevor Reeves and his family was burned to the ground last night during continued rioting in London and its suburbs. The store has been on the same site since 1867 and run by five generations of the Reeves family, latterly Trevor and his brother Graham together with their father Maurice. Now known as the House of Reeves, the company’s long presence on the same site had seen it become a landmark in the south London suburb of Croydon; its immediate area known as Reeves Corner as is the close by stop on the local tram network. Both Maurice and Trevor Reeves were successful Rallycross competitors. Trevor spending several years in the European Rallycross Championship with a Ford Escort RS Turbo and then Sierra RS500 Cosworth, in which he became third of the 1989 ERC.
