Skorupski makes ERC debut in Sweden.

Polish racer Krzysztof Skorupski is making his ERC debut in this weekend’s Swedish event and admits that he’s working hard to learn the track in today’s practice sessions.

“It’s quite a lot different from the kind of tracks I’ve raced on before, in the first few laps it was really a question of ‘where am I?’ The second session was better but I think there’s quite a lot to learn,” said Skorupski who is running alongside Czech Stanislav Šusta in the Blue Engineering team.

Skorupski’s VW Polo is an ex-Eduard Leganov car, “It was Leganov’s 2009 car but I have some updates on it so it’s almost what he had in 2010,” said the Pole who has raced the car in CEZ events so far, “The level of competition in Poland is not that high but in the CEZ I have raced against Kalný and Čermák so that’s competitive.”

Before graduating to the Polo, Skorupski learned his trade in Poland’s Fiat Seicento-based one-make class, “I think that was a good place to start, the cars do not have much power so it teaches you to respect the car and keep up as much speed as you can, it’s good training,” said Skorupski who will decide on further ERC outings after this weekend.
