Hell is waiting

Drivers are setting up there tents in Hell.

Friday, a quiet day in the Norwegian Rallycross Hell. The rain is drizzling and teams are building up there hospitality-units. A walk in the paddock brought some news. British Supercar driver Andy Scott is hoping that he can compete with the Ford Focus in the British championship round in Maasmechelen, July 10. “It depends on the damage or the maintenance we have to do on  the car after the races in Norway and Sweden.” Scott is certainly not driving the Peugeot 306. “The Peugeot has too much damage after the race in Mondello Park (IRL)”, said Scott. Who was meanwhile checking the tires. “We have all the tires we need for this weekend”. In the hospitality tent of the Kenneth Hansen Motorsport team, the mechanics where very busy. A new livery for the Citroën C4 for Russian driver Timur Timerzyanov, who was happily surprised when he was confronted for the first time with the new livery scheme on his car.

The French team of MTechnologies, Marc Laboulle was working hard to get the livery on the Citroën C4  in order for Norwegian rally driver Henning Sollberg who will race the ‘French’ C4 this weekend. Sollberg was last week fifth in the WRC rally of Greece (57th Acropolis Rally) in a Ford Fiesta RS WRC, one place behind his younger brother Petter. Henning had a lot of questions said Marc Laboulle who drives the C4 normally in the ERC. “About the power, the handling. Almost everything. We have to make some small adjustments on the car like the position of the driver seat and the steering wheel.”

Andreas Bakkerud (Super1600) has done some races on this track before. What are his thoughts about the track, which is a new one in the European Championship? Bakkerud: “There is over the whole track a small ideal racing line. Specially down hill, the three corners can be tricky. The second corner is like a hairpin, so you have to be very gentle on the throttle there and make sure that you have the good racing line otherwise the third corner which leads you to a long straight gravel section is going to be a mess.” Bakkerud hopes for nice and clean fights with his Super1600 competitors on the track. “The circuit is suitable for a lot of action”, he says.
