Debin jumps into Höljes

Another Frenchman set for Swedish ERC round.

French racer Julien Debin will return to action when he makes his first appearance in the European Rallycross Championship outside of France and races at Höljes next month.

The Poitiers-based racer has been invited to join the JSA-Compétition team that runs Davy Jeanney’s Citroën C4 Supercar in the ERC. “It’s fantastic! JSA-Compétition has offered me its second car, the Super1600 Peugeot 206 usually driven by Guillaume Bergeon in the French championship,” said Debin who added that Bergeon is taking a break from racing to concentrate on his vinyard at Château L’Éperon in the Bordeaux region. Debin hopes to continue in the championship but is focused on his Swedish outing and is preparing as thoroughly as possible. “I’ve been training to get fit for this event and I’ve watched as much onboard footage as I can get to familiarise myself with the track and I’ve discussed driving at Höljes with Samuel Peu [who had a good run in the event last year] and he’s given me some good advice. It’s going to be great to race again but I am realistic about the challenge and I know that qualifying for a final will be a good result,” he said.

JSA-Compétition boss Patrice Jeanney is taking no chances for his team’s ‘Scandinavian tour’. “We hope to recapture the early form for Davy’s Citroën C4 Supercar and do a good job with Julien. LAD have provided a good 225bhp engine for the Super1600 car and we will have damper engineer Thierry Lavendomme (TEXAM Amortisseurs) with the team to help,” he said.
