Running late

Holte takes Supercar pole.

The third heat finished a minute or two before three o’clock, which is when the finals were scheduled to start; the French round of the ERC again running behind timetable.

On the track the action is hotting up as the pressure mounts. Taking his second win of the day, Frode Holte bagged pole position for the A final and is beginning to look like an event winner. Mats Lysen and Ludvig Hunsbedt were next up, Samuel Peu fourth and denied a race win by spending the last lap behind “Knapick” and just being pipped by Hunsbedt as the Norwegian exited his Joker Lap.

At the moment there is a little confusion around the results, the published copy says that Liam Doran and Sverre Isachsen have both been excluded from the third heat, but the Doran case at least appears to be under some discussion…

Among the TouringCars, Lars Øivind Enerberg, as in Portugal, came out to drive in the third heat even though he need not have risked his car. Ranged against Derek Tohill, Enerberg took the race win and fastest time in the heat, remaining unbeaten all weekend. Tohill and Koen Pauwels were next up, Roman Častoral retiring from his race after spinning in his Joker Lap and having previously been caught behind Patrick Mertens who enjoyed a good run here.

Under pressure to deliver, Zdeněk Čermák dug deep and produced a race winning S1600 run to top the order ahead of Laurent Chartrain and David Johansson, the latter squeezing into the back of the A final as last direct qualifier.
