Finnish championship at Kouvola

Sami Pakkala and Jari-Pekka Kokko claim Kouvola victories.

The first round of the Finnish Rallycross Championship took place on Saturday May 14 at the Tykkimäen Moottorirata at Kouvola, where in 2010 the Finnish round of the ERC was held. While last years SRC winner Toomas Heikkinen is concentrating on the European series now, both his runner-up and multiple Finnish champion Atro Määttä as well as Matti Alamäki’s protégé Sami Pakkala, who claimed the SRC bronze medal last year, are trying to become Topi’s heir apparents. The first exchange of blows resultet in an overall victory for Pakkala, whose Honda Civic Type-R seems to be no longer in its infancy. Second place was grabbed by Jukka Lautamäki, who took the well known yellow Ford Focus of Tony Croon from Sweden to Finland, while Määttä finished as sixth only. In the SRC category things went quite similar, 2010 runner-up Jari-Pekka Kokko drove his Volvo S40 to victory and last years champion Juha-Pekka Mattila finished with his BMW E81 on fifth place.
